Two Minute Rule CD. Robert Crais Read by Christopher Graybill A major new thriller from the author of THE FORGOTTEN MAN. Two minutes can be a lifetime. But break the two minute rule and it's a lifetime in jail. Ask anyone on the wrong side of the law about the two minute rule and they'll tell you that's as long as you can hope for at a robbery before the cops show up. But not everyone plays by the rules. When an aging ex-con finally gets out of jail, freedom doesn't taste too sweet. His son is gunned down in a drive-by shooting. It seems like a random crime, but when the victim is a cop - especially a cop with a con for a father - the motives are never simple. When the hit is exposed as a revenge killing, and the question of police corruption is raised, it becomes a father's last duty to clear his son's name and catch the killer. Gathering all the elements that have made Robert Crais one of the very best crime writers today, Two Minute Rule will grip and intrigue his legions of fans, and provide the perfect opportunity for new readers to discover the author who sets the standard when it comes to twisting plots and powerful characters. Review: I've reviewed the book elsewhere in this issue (the Orion books page) and it is fabulous entertainment. Well, this audiobook is great too. Graybill manages to convey the sense of urgency as Holman and Pollard engage the police and the FBI in a chase to uncover the truth. In the days before TV (I didn't get TV until 1963 - though I knew it existed, of cousre!) I used to listen avidly to all the radio plays and the readings of the great novels on the BBC Third Programme. When my children were growing up we had tapes of Noddy and Paddington, and this takes me back - one man doing all the voices, telling a great story. It's a great way to become familiar with a piece of fiction. This one's a winner.

Star Sullivan (CD)

Maeve Binchy
Read by
Olivia Caffrey

A brand new Maeve Binchy - written specially for the World Book Day Quick Read promotion.
UNABRIDGED. 2hrs 30min. Olivia Caffrey uses her knowledge of her native Dublin and its inhabitants to bring to vivid life each of Maeve's diverse cast of characters. Molly Sullivan said that the new baby was a little star. She was no trouble at all and she was always smiling… so she became known as Star and no one remembered that her name was Oona.
Star Sullivan just wanted everyone to be happy - her father to stop gambling, her mother not to work so hard, her brother to stay out of trouble, her sister to stop worrying about every little thing she ate.  Then the Hale family moved in next door, and from the moment Star saw 23-year-old Laddy Hale, everything began to change - until Star was no longer the sweet, thoughtful girl everyone loved and no one worried about...

1291 AD, Acre. As the city burns under the onslaught of the Sultan's men, the Falcon Temple sets sail, carrying a small band of knights and a mysterious chest entrusted to them by the Order's Grand Master. But the ship vanishes without a trace...
Present day New York. At the Metropolitan Museum, four horsemen dressed as Knights Templar storm the gala opening of an exhibition of Vatican treasures and, in a brutal and bloody attack, steal an arcane medieval decoder.
For FBI agent Sean Reilly and archaeologist Tess Chaykin this is just the start of a deadly game of cat and mouse as they race across three continents in search of the ruthless killers - and a centuries-old mystery...

Sir Gadabout is a walking disaster. Voted the "knight most likely to chop his own foot off in a fight", he shivers in his rusty armour when he has to face the brave Sir Lancelot in a joust. Sir Gads travels with his loyal squire Herbert to the wizard Merlin's cottage to get his ear stuck back in place after the joust, and survives an attack by Merlin's crazed guard turtle. Then, when Queen Guinevere is kidnapped, Sir Gads sets out to save the day!
Join the loveable Sir Gadabout, loyal Herbert and Merlin's sarcastic cat, Sidney Smith, on a chaotic quest that will make every listener - child or adult - laugh out loud.

Four more brilliant stories from the child that every adult loves to hate.
'...the under-11s' favourite anti-hero... Henry is a truly great character.. Miranda Richardson may never play a greater role...' - The Sunday Times
Hugely popular - over 500,000 audio copies sold in various formats.
Unabridged.
